The law firm of Weems, Schimpf, Gilsoul, Haines, Landry & Carmouche (APLC) was formed in May, 1982. Originally located in downtown Shreveport, the firm moved to its present home in the historic Highland District in 1983.

In addition to representing victims of serious personal injury, our lawyers provide general legal services in business formation, real estate, family law and divorce. About our Office

Our law office is the former residence of prominent industrialist and oil man Robert Oscar Roy. The building was designed by Shreveport architect Edward F. Neild in a style that incorporates a blend of French and English Renaissance architecture. Neild is well known for the design of many historic buildings in Shreveport including C.E. Byrd High School, Saint John's Catholic Church and the Caddo Parish Courthouse. Neild gained national attention when President Harry Truman appointed him head of the restoration committee for the White House.

Upon completion in 1926, the building was known as the Roy Mansion and was occupied by the Roy family until 1977. The building was purchased by Lyle and Antoinette Stierwalt and used as their primary residence, as well as an interior design studio and an art gallery.

In January 1983, the building was acquired and carefully renovated and restored to maintain its architectural integrity while being converted to a modern four story office building for the firm's offices.

Our attorneys and their support staff are located on the upper three levels of the main building, with computer operations, accounting, library and other support functions maintained in the basement. In 1997, the firm received a merit award from the Shreveport Beautification Foundation, and today the Roy Mansion continues to proudly serve as a beautiful landmark in the historic Highland neighborhood.
